Welcome to the New Moon in Capricorn which waned new at 6;15 AM EST this morning. Our beloved Moon symbolizes the foundation of our intelligence, our feelings emotional reactions, our drive to secure ourselves emotionally in the sign of Capricorn, my ascendant sign… and I don’t know if that has anything to do with this being my favorite time of year, but it is… and the position of the moon this morning was coincidentally in the first house, the house of our outward identity.
Capricorn is feminine cardinal earth, the “I use” of the zodiac… the harvest sign of what takes place in the raw resources of Taurus and the garden of Virgo. Ruled by the Roman God Saturn, the god of sowing and reaping, we take a look at where we have walked throughout the course of the past year, making note of what our actions have brought us and hopefully adjust ourselves accordingly, gaining wisdom from our proverbial experiences. Saturn as it is, is actually not in aspect to the current moon, sitting in Scorpio all alone.
What does aspect the moon is a triple conjunction to Pluto, Mercury, and the Sun which all sit unified with the Moon in Capricorn. So, our sense of self, how we communicate, as well as our ability to positively transform ourselves all hold hands with the goal that we can set for this New Moon, also setting the course for the year to come.
Today in the Hebrew calendar is the 29th of Tevet this moon sitting comfortably in Capricorn giving us a truer sense of the sign than we had during the prior full moon where she had not quite entered Capricorn yet. It is said that Capricorns have a pattern in life whereby their lives are on a roller coaster ride of things building, losing and rebuilding from the beginning again… teaching them that they cannot rely upon luck but only upon their own hard work…making Capricorn industrious. Being a cardinal sign, she believes in taking action… whenever things go wrong, she goes into action and does what needs to be done to get things right again… and being an earth sign, she typically only puts her faith in that which in practical and tangible…
Capricorn/Tevet represents the last hey in the Tetrammaton, symbolizing the winter portion of the wheel the last season of the year.. Hei represents our limited physical world. Earth signs are considered very practical and this partially explains why Capricorns are “dry”, well organized and realistic (they can be found often working in management and accounting). This is why it is said that Capricorns are born “old”, and also because they have tough childhoods and experience great crises, they feel that they never had a childhood. This contributes greatly to them growing into strong, hard, resilient and realistic adults.
Capricorn is governed by the Hebrew letter Ayin. Since infancy, the Capricorn has learned the hard way, that spirituality, practical sense, goodness and sharing are the only true things that matters. Hence it is also known that as Capricorns age, they become younger, as finally in their adulthood they manage to learn the secret of life; that spirituality is where it’s at. They begin to truly enjoy their life, in their later years.
When Tevet starts we are all influenced by Capricorn and that is why it is a great opportunity for us to learn, to see our lives as a spiritual project. It is the perfect time to make a list of all the spiritual assets we’ve accumulated over the years. This will give us a good indication to what we want from life, and to motivate us to keep striving to be like the Capricorn; to enjoy spirituality, wealth, joy and true certainty. We were taught that faith without works is dead… if you have set a goal for yourself you cannot just sit and expect it to come to you… you have to take a step toward that end yourself as an act of faith for what you are believing for.
The letter Ayin in the Thoth Tarot is the card, the Devil… the proverbial scapegoat of the bible…
and it’s interesting that we see this card again, as I was watching an episode of Ancient Aliens on the origins of the so called fallen god that became to be known as Ha-satan… why he was called the serpent god and what some believe really took place in Eudin, or Eden. Now when I was in my hebrew studies, we did a breakdown of the story of the garden of eden and what the tree of knowledge really was.
Biblical writers called the healing serpent Nehushtan. The Hebrew word for serpent is nahas the root of which are the letters nun, het and shin which means “to guess.” This was eventually translated into other languages as “satan” which some say mean enemy or adversary… but adversary of whom? The serpent represents spiritual wisdom life and healing…. In the sumerian tablets, the father of Enki and Enlil really saw Enki as the savior of his people… the Enuma Elish.
… and certainly the bible could not say that Eve had sex with the serpent thereby causing the seed of man to become corrupt with and the seed of other worldly beings, but it is essentially hinted that the original twins of Cain and Abel were not of pure blood and something that I never noticed before but when the book of Chronicles back traces the bloodline of the prophesied messiah, they only go back to the 3rd born son, Seth, because he was of pure human blood and not nephillim. But we should keep in mind… things in the bible were often written as opposites… so who really carried the so called royal lineage?
Lon Milo Duquette writes “Reducing the long story of the Devil to its roots, there was an archangel called Lucifer (lightbringer) who said ‘I’m born to be free – I don’t serve!’ Later on there was a despotic religion that annihilated everything else, destroyed age old cultures and beliefs, and surpressed natural wisdom and science. Then, the world was provided with perverted rags like Dantes’ ‘Divine Comedy’, while everything scientific landed in the fire. But for all the ‘evil’ there was a perfect scapegoat – the devil.. ”
