Full Moon in Cancer

Welcome to the Full Moon in Cancer which waxed at 11:54 PM EST at 8 degrees Cancer in the 4th house.

The Moon, our emotional selves, our receptiveness from our environment for better or for worse… how we react to the outer world around us, in the sign of equally emotional Cancer…the sensitive and protective side of the Zodiac.  The Moon is at home in Cancer so her emotions are pure.  She wants to nurture those she considers hers… she has a great capacity for love but on the darker side, she can be obsessively protective…  currently situated in the 4th house, the house that governs our domestic environment, our early formative years and the parent of lesser influence.  This house also shows what we become during the last third of our lives… the older we get, the more we become like the sign and planets in our 4th house… The Cancer Moon is also at home in the 4th house, the sign of the home.

Aspects to this Full Moon include the opposition to the Sun, the square with Uranus, the trine with Neptune, and the opposition with Pluto.

The opposition occurs when planets are at 180 degrees apart and is considered conflicting.  When reading your individual chart, an opposition might involve conflict between your inner self and the outside world.  The Sun, our outer self, our sense of vitality in the sign of responsible and disciplined Capricorn pointing to the house of our career and public image possibly pointing to conflicting natures between our inner home life and our outer public one.  Sometimes we have to hide who we truly are when out in public, sad in the year 2015 we still fear persecution for being who we are.  Historically, when catholicism was instituted as the only acceptable faith under punishment of death, pagans had to either make false confessions of faith or go underground in order to survive.  The 10th house Sun is also representative of the parent of greater influence in direct opposition to the parent of lesser influence, which falls in line with the Uranus square.

The square occurs when planets are 90 degrees apart and is considered to also be a position of challenge.  Uranus represents our need for independence from the norms of family, society, etc., where we strive to become an individual…casting out the ideals of who our parents wanted us to be and standing on our own.  The sign of Aries lends a sense of strength and determination to our goals here and with the first house influence… we’re talking about our very sense of self… a sign of new beginnings, the pioneer spirit going off on her own and finally deciding for oneself who we truly are.

The trine is considered to be a position that allows for creative flow between the planets involved and with the Planet Neptune, creativity is what Neptune is all about…the planet of our imagination and our dreams nestled in sensitive and intuitive Pisces, but the catch here is the 12th house influences and those areas of our psychological self-undoing…those negative parts of our personality that get in our way could rear their ugly heads causing Neptune’s creative juices to flow on the darker side.

Then there is the opposition with transformative Pluto sitting with the Sun in Capricorn tugging at those strings that bind us to get rid of things that are no longer necessary for our development.  Pluto represents what is essential in our lives… where pluto falls in your chart indicates areas we should concentrate on in order to make the leap to the next level in our development, but transiting the 10th house with the Sun, he’s pointing to change in our outer public lives.

Today in the Hebrew calendar is the 15th of Tevet.  Tevet’s planet is Saturn and is ruled by the letter Beit.  Symbolically, the letter beit has a bottom line which symbolizes the earth and an upper line which symbolizes the sky and a vertical line which connects them together.  The planet Saturn is not concerned with our physical needs and forces us to reconnect with the spiritual, the things that cannot ever be taken away which is Capricorn’s greatest fear.

BEIT

The letter beit is called the house..referring in Kaballah to God’s house…the body, where the spirit dwells. Symbolically, the destruction of the Temple is the tearing down of our old useless traditions that we picked up along the way that really have no justification or foundation… we got into the practice for whatever reason… like people that go to church because it’s all they have ever known, but you ask them why they believe what they believe and many cannot tell you.  Today is the day to take inventory of ourselves and to rebuild our house on a more solid foundation… “they shall build me a temple and I will dwell in them… stated in the Torah… which causes the holy land, which is spirit and love, to expand filling the lower level with the light from the higher spheres.

From Lon Milo Duquette’s book Enochian Vision Magick, the letter bet or b which is pa in the angelic language is considered sacred and is the beginning letter is the names of the so coked good Angels and also appears in the four corners of the holy table used in Enochian and also heptarchia Magick systems. It’s no coincidence that it’s the letter associated with the magi.

magus

The 12th path is connected to the Magi in the Thoth Tarot.

When I first began my magical studies, the first book I read on magic stressed the need for the  beginner to perfect and hone his or her skills because it reflected on the craft as a whole.  In other words for one person to be lax in the performing of a ritual would deflect from the perfection of the work of others of like gifts.  Magic is not a gift that is bestowed to just one person, it is universal and anyone can tune in to that frequency, if you will.  There is a TNT series called the Librarians which is a cute little quest type show where there is a guardian of all things magical, items throughout history that have magic associated with them, such as Excalibur… the theory is that these magical items have to be kept out of the wrong hands who would mis-use their power.  Opposing factions, the Serpent Brotherhood seeks to return magic to the world, which reminded me of the line from Once Upon a Time where “magic comes to Storybrook,” as if magic itself is something that’s in the air that you could use at will, as if, like God – it is something that is separate from you the individual, when in essence, we are all magic.  This is the first Full Moon of the year, that sets the tone for your year, sort of your new year resolution.  The letter Beit beckons each to enter the house of wisdom… with the understanding of who each of you are…fully gifted and completely equipped with all the magical abilities you require for the life path you set for yourself.

The letter beit is the body as the abode of light or darkness.   Initiation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon teaches that initiation begins in the mind, and many other traditions begin with training your ability to visualize which is all internal.  So our Cancer Full Moon entices us to find magic within ourselves while the Sun in Capricorn gives us the discipline and organizational skills to manage our new skills properly… as we always say, everyone performs magic in their lives… we might as well learn how to do it correctly.  Blessed be.

The musical note for the 12th path is E which is the note MI which translates to 528 hz on the solfeggio scale.

Enjoy a meditation on the solfeggio frequency.
