Since we are moving, and likely won’t have internet by the date of the New Moon, I’ve completed this early and will post before we move, which will be early!
June 5th is the New Moon in Gemini which wanes at 3:00 a.m. EST at 15 degrees. With the Moon sits Venus at 14 degrees, and the Sun at 17, in the 3rd house. The Moon, representing our emotional nature, inner self, dreams, shapes our innermost desires, loves, and needs. The sign of Gemini is masculine mutable air. Gemini is the sign of the thinker. In your chart, the house that has Gemini on the cusp shows the place where communication and a constant flow of information is important to you. Gemini is said to have dual nature symbolized by the twins. This dual nature represents exchange, and interaction, the substance of Gemini being the sign of the communicator. Gemini is adaptable and flexible often mistaken as being two different personalities since Gemini is always receiving a constant flow of information, opinions or positions would naturally change. The glyph for Gemini depicts two lines joined together, not only showing the symbolism of the twins, and the dual nature, but the energies of the sign as we will discuss a little later. With the Moon in the third house, the house of communication, we could be a bit overwhelmed with how quickly information comes and goes, so much so, we may find it difficult to retain what is important, over the superficial. So let’s try to stay grounded, and be mindful of our intentions at every step during this strong transit.
The Moon in Gemini brings wit, charm, but nervousness and worry. Because Gemini represents a constant flow of information, often too many details get stuck taking one off the original idea of what one is attempting to accomplish. You may seem a bit absent minded at times depending on how this New Moon falls in your chart, but don’t fret, you’re not really losing your mind, your body is just overwhelmed at times, with the energies coming, and going.
The other planets aspecting this New Moon include the (2) conjunction with Venus, and the (1) Sun, (3) Square with Jupiter and (4) Neptune, and the (5) opposition with Saturn. People often say the Full Moon is most effective because things seem so strange at the Full Moon, but the new moon in it’s own right is often sorely underestimated.
The conjunction emphasizes and brings the energies of the two planets together and occurs when the planets are from 0 to 8° within each other. Venus is the planet of beauty and social graces. The sun represents our ego and basic character.
With the sun in Gemini urge is for self expression. Venus in Gemini is sure to be all about witty conversation along with the moon in Gemini being all about charm and pleasantries this triple conjunction could turn into more than one blowing smoke up your ass, if you will and make it a little difficult to see behind the masks people wear when dealing with others they want acceptance from. Not a good time to go on a date with someone you don’t know…you won’t get s true handle on their personality.
A square occurs when two planets are at 90° angles give or take 8°. It’s considered an aspect of tension obstacles and challenges. Jupiter is typically associated with expansion and good luck. It is the first of his social planets Intends to get inside through knowledge as opposed to venus who tends to rely on wit and charm. This reminds me of a show called the Manners of Downton Abbey where one of the consultants who assisted the writers, and director, to make sure the show appeared authentic with respect to how people conducted themselves in that time. Conversation, for instance, at the table was typically light hearted, and pleasant… very Venus like. In modern society with a typical family all going in different directions at any one given time, to sit down together for a meal is too often skipped in favor of getting things done. With the Moon-Sun-Venus conjunction, Jupiter would challenge their social charm in favor of getting to the heart of issues and talking frankly.
Neptune represents our sense of idealism, and imagination, dreams, and intuitions. Neptune rules spirituality and all things subtle, including synchronicities. Neptune is also square this New Moon but sits in the opposite direction from Jupiter, in Pisces. Pisces is the sign of belief, mysteries, and glamour… not glamour as in makeup; glamour as in illusions. It’s square with this New Moon may signify that it’s not a good time to talk about faith, or other subjects that people are passionate about such as politics. In the 12th house, the house of our undoing, we should strive to hold our peace, in favor of keeping things light hearted, and not take ourselves, or the things others say as too seriously. There are times where people just don’t want to talk about the truth of what’s going on, and at such times, it’s best not to push the envelope too far, so as not to shove someone over the edge of their own insanity.
Last but not least is the opposition with Saturn. Oppositions are positions of challenges, an opportunity for growth, and the growth is usually for the person that needs to learn to sometimes just let stupid be. Saturn is the planet of limitations, and structure and in Sagitarius, the sign of wisdom, letting the Moon-Venus-Sun conjunction have it’s way with all things seeming rosey, can take all that Saturn can muster to be the “wiser” and let things flow as they will. All things work out in the end anyway…so resist the urge to point out another person’s ignorance, even cut yourself some slack if you find you’re getting sucked in, a little time spent in lala land may do you some good too.
Today in Hebrew, the Sun, which is the planet that the calendars evolve around, is in the sign of Gemini, the month of Sivan. Sivan means twins, representing the dual nature of the sign of Gemini. The sign of Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury, called a star. Mercury was the messenger, meaning he was on both sides of giving and receiving, the combination of left and right column energies… receiving energy and light from the upper triads on the tree of life for the purpose of shining that light upon the lower spheres that our physical existence be guided into a more spiritual meaning rather than just existing on this plane. Since this New Moon is all about communication, the sign of Gemini is like a flash drive connected to one computer to receive information, and then to another computer to deliver that information. We find in our world today, communication can be dual natured; on one hand information is easily accessible… and on the other hand, that information can often be misleading or wrong; anyone can write what they want on a blog and anyone can find it, and take it for truth. On such shows like, “The Internet Ruined My Life,” we’re reminded that things written on internet that may be intended as innocent, can become a monster with a mind of its own, so we go back to the position of the New Moon and remember to keep things pleasant…if it doesn’t uplift.. don’t say it… we can have conflicting opinions, but we don’t always have to express them, and not every moment is one appropriate for teaching as some people don’t wish to be taught because Gemini can also be the drive that delivers a virus… only as good as the information it’s received.
The hebrew letter that created the month of Sivan is the letter Zayin.
The letter zayin is the 7th letter in the alephbet with a value of 7. The letter zayin is considered a crowned vav, or returning light. The gematria of the letter Zayin is 67; spelled zayin yud nun, 7, 10 + 50 = 67 which is the same value for binah which is understanding. 7 is typically the number for completeness; G-d rested on the 7th day seeing all that was said and done was good. In the Torah, the children of Israel were instructed to take a year of rest every 7 years called a shemitah which many suggest was supposed to be in 2015. It is said that every 7 years we ourselves experience something that changes the course of our life. For one such article on this occurrence that I found, please see the following link:
This caused me to look back, especially at the first 7 years of my life that I can remember, and see how those learned patterns shaped the course of my life… how did I change.. do I still carry that with me in deciding who I let into my life? Look deeply over the course of your life and see if this holds true for you.
The letter Zayin takes us to the Lovers card in the Thoth Tarot.
“The Oracle of the Gods is the Child-Voice of Love in thine own Soul! hear thou it! Heed not the Siren-Voice of Sense, or the Phantom-Voice of Reason: rest in Simplicity, and listen to the Silence. 66”
DuQuette, Lon Milo. Understanding Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot (p. 112). Red Wheel Weiser. Kindle Edition.
In the alchemical process known as “solve et coagula,” the card, The Lovers, represents the process of “solve.” According to Lon Milo Duquette, it is a story of marriage and pregnancy, but the main character is the child born of the union, not the husband or wife. The card is loaded with symbolism from the magical sign of the enterer of the Hermit that performs the ceremony, the characters of Cain and Abel attending the bride and groom, Lilith and Eve, the first and 2nd brides of man in the upper corners, the descending dove of the holy spirit on the golden cup, all have meaning and would obviously lend to immense mis-interpretation, as does so much of thelemic or any such philosophy attributed to the so called mystery teachings. But since the process is more about the product of the so called marriage, pointing to the “twins” representative of Cain and Abel, Cain was reputedly the product of Eve and the serpent, or Eve and Lord Enki (in some schools), and Abel, the product of Eve and Adamah… or Eve and man…one of knowledge and one of presumably, innocence or ignorance, if you will. The hints alone enough to rethink the story sending one down a rabbit hole of study (giggle). Simplistically, it’s easy to associate the twins with the energies of the right and left columns, one of giving, one of receiving, one of judgment, and the other of mercy. It’s also worth pointing out that as the article, Every Seven Years you Change, Tony Crisp points out, years 0-7 are the formative years that do influence the rest of our lives…
“But something so mysterious happens to us during this first seven years that once done it can never be undone. The Roman Catholic Church recognises this by saying that if they can have the first seven years of a child’s life, that is all they need to insure a lifelong influence.” Funny….what I learned about the church during the first 7 years of my life was they couldn’t be trusted! But in that seeming age of innocence, we observe and learn…I don’t remember putting things completely together until much later in life, but I do remember watching and listening… I do remember what and who was important to me.
The Lovers card takes us to the 17th Path on the Kabblistic Tree of Life connecting Binah (understanding) to Tiphareth (beauty), spheres 3 and 6 respectively.
The sphere of Binah is said to impart the energies we need to comprehend ourselves, our identity and our mission in life, and points to the area in your life where you must practice persistence and focus, as in the fixing of the soul. Tiphereth teaches that you experience “beauty” when you balance giving and receiving, all polarities, judgment and forgiveness. Tiphareth shows where you can express your highest good.
Now then… how do you access this pathworking, and what does all this mean? All things are connected, just as you are connected with everyone, and everything. The energies of the planets at any particular point in time influence each of us differently, and overall, point you to an area of your life that you need to focus on. There are any number of astrologers on the internet that will happily give you their take on what means what to you, but the best thing I’ve found is to figure it out on your own, if you’re of a mindset that you’ve noticed certain patterns in your life that perhaps you’re attempting to understand; why you do things the way you do… and if you’re thinking there’s something you’d maybe like to change. Although I believe we’re always in one state of perfection or another, I do see a great deal of myself that I would like to improve…..
Areas the 17th Path can help you include:
Understanding patterns and karma
Being able to “let go” and have fun – very Moon-Venus-Sun in Gemini like
Being able to recognize yourself in all things
…looking at some of the things the 17th path and the connecting new moon energies can help me with, such as letting go and having fun, not taking things too seriously, I can see a definite need in myself to pay attention to how these things do affect and influence what I do, my moods, my reactions to things, and especially, how those are perceived by others.
