Full Moon in Sagittarius

Full Moon Sagittarius 2017

Welcome to the Full Moon in Sagittarius which waxed at 9:10 aM EST.  The Moon, representing the feminine side of our psyche, our emotional nature, instincts, unconscious drives, loves, and needs in the sign of Sagittarius, masculine, but rigidly so because it’s mutable, and passionate because it’s fire.  Sagittarius is the sign of wisdom and adds a sense of understanding to the strong emotions of the Mother Moon, helping us place things in their proper perspective.  Ruled by the ancient God Jupiter, the ruler of heavens, good fortune and optimism.  Sagittarius loves the challenge, so if things become complacent, its looking for new ways to shake things up so that its constantly fed new information to add to that sense of wisdom.  This could be a difficult lesson because that lesson could bring out information that’s not all that comfortable for you to deal with.  With 5th house energies, there may be some upheaval in relationships with spouses and/or children.

The world of philosophy is an important area of interest for Sagittarius.  The opposition brings challenges because the Sun and the Moon at this transit are often at competing odds and giving both sides of yourself expression can be difficult.  If you tend to be a little more on the emotional side, that logical self that can keep you in check may be hard pressed to give you any balance at all.  The Sun in Gemini loves to investigate and explore, so if your emotions are running hot at this time, take a drive and get away from it all and find someplace new to give your spirit new areas to focus on, something unconventional for you, off your typical beaten path.  The 11th house highlights friends, so if the Moon is giving you fits in those relationships closer to home, make a lunch date with a friend and get away from what’s bothering you… your friend may give you a new perspective or a new focus that makes what’s going on at home seem certainly less important.

This Full Moon has a sextile with Jupiter, conjunction with Saturn, trine with Uranus, and a square with Neptune.

Jupiter is the planet of expansion and good luck; Jupiter opens us up to new ideals and helps us grasp new concepts.  Libra is balance and charm, and can help this fiery Moon see through the negative effects to see the purpose in whatever difficulty the Moon highlights, especially with 3rd house energies, where we can follow the natural order to their logical conclusion.

The conjunction tends to be intensely unified.  Saturn, the planet of limitations and structure sits with the Moon in Sagittarius, which would at first glance give the impression that any negative effects of this Full Moon will be magnified, but Saturn also gives a sense of determination, and patience which may help us see the benefit of any harshness coming to the surface.  The chart report says we should learn to value frankness, even if it kinda stings, because if you know how people honestly see you, you can gage if these are really people to have in your life.  Respecting an honest opinion is certainly preferable than someone that simply fluffs you by smiling in your face while secretly hating everything you say and do.

Uranus represents our sense of originality, and change and upsets that bring that about.  In the sign of Aries, Uranus can be forceful and abrasive in how those changes are brought about, but every now and then, we need a smack in the face to see the truth in things that we may be doing lending insight into energy and action versus effect, because our energy affects everyone different based on their perception.  Everyone has their own sense of perception, and not everyone meshes well together in every situation.

The square with Neptune says our ideas may clash with our reality.  Neptune is the planet of idealism, and illusion;  where we see the world through those rose colored glasses, and in the sign of Pisces.  The square creates tension in order to stimulate action…so we may simply just have a glamoured sense of who we are overall, but the lessons in this transit can be utilized to smooth more of those rougher edges than we’ve dared to even look at.

Today in the Hebrew is the 16th of the month of Sivan.  Sivan/Gemini, is the month of the twins, the dual nature, the combining of energies to become one, the central column to  create circuitry, balance and wholeness.  The concept of two becoming as one highlights the teaching to love thy neighbor as thyself, however, if one does not truly first love oneself, loving the other person becomes moot, because that’s not a life of balance.  Loving the other more than yourself too often results in self neglect for the sake of the other, which isn’t healthy either. Middle column energy assumes giving and receiving in equal balance.

At the new moon, we explored the letter zayin and at the Full Moon, we’re turning our focus to the hebrew letter that created the ruling planet and the letter Reish.  Kabbalah teaches that the word raz, combining the letter reish with the letter zayim, means secret.  The secret of the month of Sivan/Gemini, is the ability to balance different desires and people into one complete entity, in balance.

resh

Inner.org says even though the reish is located near the end of the alef-bet, it’s meaning is actually head or beginning.  The Zohar says there are 4 beginnings, and the beginning highlighted in the month of Sivan is the giving of the Torah and the life that went on from there; what you do with the instructions on love. Again, everyone’s perception is different, and the sages say out of the 600K of people that were there to physically receive the Torah at Mt. Sinai, each heard it differently, and even in current times, we know that it’s been proven that ten people in a room that you give certain instructions to will hear them differently; children that grow up in a household together experiencing the same parents and the same situations will perceive those things different, so it’s completely understandable how things can become distorted if the mind or spirit of any one individual is out of balance, and you have to find your own way to deal with that.  We can all choose to walk away, or we can choose to stand and attempt a fix or compromise.

The letter reish takes us to the 30th path on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life connecting Hod (glory) with the sphere of Yesod (foundation), the concept of getting back to basics.

The sphere of Hod highlights your style of communication and your strength and weaknesses in how you convey and receive messages and knowledge.  The sphere of Yesod exposes your inner reflexes, how you instinctively react to various situations.

Rabbi Rashin of Chabad.org in his teachings on the letter reish explains that the reish is the poor man who has nothing and is because the reish is missing the third leg, the letter hei, “if you have thought and you have speech, which are the two lines of the reish, but you don’t have the third line, which is the line of action, you are truly poverty stricken.”   In creating, in ritual, in everything that we do, we have thought, the spark of the idea, we have speech, the vibrations necessary to create, but you have to have an action that moves you, moves the energies/elements, in the right direction to bring about what you’re visualizing.  Neptune stimulates the action to move on the new lessons that we’re absorbing.

“Whenever I am asked to explain the philosophy or, if you prefer, the religion of Thelema, the first thing I usually tell people is, “It is a modern form of Sun worship.” But then, I am quick to add, “And when I use the word ‘Sun,’ I am also referring to myself.”

Chic Cicero writes in his book, “Skrying on the Tree of Life,”

“The Thirtieth Path of Resh The Thirtieth Path is the Collecting Intelligence, and is so called because Astrologers deduce from it the judgment of the stars and celestial signs, and the perfections of their science, according to the rules of the motions of the stars. The “Collecting Intelligence” implies accumulation, increase, and growth. The Hebrew letter Resh is attributed to the sun and the “head,” which suggests both cosmic and human consciousness. This is, therefore, a path of increasing levels of consciousness where all forms of consciousness are collected, integrated, and appropriated for a divine purpose. Here are established the laws that rule our notions of reality. “The judgment of the stars and celestial signs, and the perfections of their science, according to the rules of the motions of the stars” indicates the precise structure and operation of cosmic law that rules and regulates all things in the universe. Therefore the evolution (increase) of human consciousness acts “according to the rules” of cosmic or eternal consciousness. The Thirtieth Path leads from the astral, imaginative world in Yesod to the sphere of the rational mind in Hod. It is therefore a conduit of the thought process or intellectual energy which further refines the lower personality of the student. The_Qath of Resh is a balance between the imagination and the intellect. But here our consciousness turns inward for guidance and support. Here we endeavor to harvest true inner sight, purged from all psychological obstacles that stand in the way of growth. A sense of regeneration or rejuvenation is the gift that the divine consciousness bestows on this path. Since the Hebrew letter Resh means “head,” it further alludes to the function of the “Collecting Intelligence,” assembling information and experiences which the personality can use in its quest for something higher. This is the place where mind and body, as well as logic and intuition, must be balanced. The physical must be reconciled with the mental, and this process is aided by the intervention of the divine mind, sought from within. The Thirtieth Path is also where the initial communication with the so-called Illuminated Masters or Inner Planes Contacts takes place.”
