New Moon in Libra

Welcome to the New Moon in Libra which waned at 3:12 PM EST.  The Moon, as we know, represents the emotional, inner side of our personalities, the feminine archetype of who we are, as well as our dreams, hopes, loves, and fears.  The sign of Libra is masculine cardinal air, and is the planet of balance, ruling charm, and social graces.  Cardinal signs take action, and air signs deal with communicating and friendships. The Moon in Libra likes everything calm, and harmonic, able to adjust in situations, lending a reflective, and tactful energy.  The 8th house is the house of sex, death, and regeneration, and rules over other people’s possessions, meaning, our ability to use the values or possessions of others to our own end.  8th house energies can also make for people in places of power being a turn on, and Libra turns on the charm and adjusts to be what is needed or desired. Sounding a little wishy washy – it’s not; it’s an art being able to make the situation work for you, even if it’s not you.

This New Moon is power packed with energy with the conjunction with the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, the sextile with saturn, opposition with Uranus, and the square with Pluto; all the major players have something to say.

The conjunctions are typically intensely unified.  The Sun, representing our outer identity, basic character, egoic self, and masculine nature, with the Moon in Libra helping us to see ourselves in others, placing yourself in someone else’s shoes is often the root to having compassion for someone we otherwise might not agree with.  But relating is very Libra like making the Libra Sun the great moderator.

Mercury is the planet of intellect, helping us with reasoning and perception, but while Mercury is conjunct the Moon, Mercury sits in Scorpio, the “I desire” of the zodiac and what Mercury in Scorpio wants is information, the secrets…what did Olympia Dukasis’s character, Clairee,  say in the movie, “Steel Magnolias…”  “if you can’t say anything nice about somebody, come sit by me.”  Mercury also gravitates out of the 8th house energies and gets to what is lasting and true with 9th house energies, as does Jupiter, the planet of good luck and expansion lending an air of trustworthiness and honesty because Jupiter and Mercury have done the work in sifting through the bullshit.

The sextile is an aspect of benefit, and the planet Saturn is the planet of limitations and responsibilities. But just because it’s the planet of limitations doesn’t mean that’s a bad thing, we need structure and rules so we don’t go out and accidentally hurt ourselves, the look before crossing the street, and think before you speak, etc. Saturn in Sagittarius is the great seer of how limitations are beneficial, and with 11th house energies, sometimes we don’t just blurt out the first thing that comes into our minds without thinking because that could be the very thing that hurts a friend.  The Sagittarian says wait for a more beneficial time, and a softer way to say it.

The opposition creates challenges, but opportunity for growth if both planets have expression.  Uranus is the of originality and independence.  Aries is the sign of self assertiveness, so the challenge becomes harmony and balance often versus who I really am and how to I give expression to both.  Well, I don’t have to say everything that comes to mind, sometimes it takes more strength to just keep it to ourselves, even if I do know better, I don’t have to prove that….true charity is in doing without expectation of praise or recognition.  But I have to still be me because Uranus in Aries loves confrontation, but those bold and startling insights that come with this energy, we can keep it to ourselves, because the goal here is inner growth, and not being worried about changing others, so we can maintain the social grace even in a situation we don’t care for, and quietly just walk away.

Last but never the least is the planet of regeneration, and proverbial change, Pluto which is square this New Moon.  The square  creates tension, but tension creates diamonds, so tension can be used positively even if Pluto goes to the extreme.  Capricorn is the sign of justice, and is the harvest of our actions.  Pluto’s energy here can be earth shattering, because if we don’t see the blessing in maintaining Libra’s balance and harmony, it could blow up in your face.  If we don’t heed Saturn and Uranus’ discernment on the side of caution and good judgment, the backlash could be your own undoing.

Today in the Hebrew is the Rosh Chodesh or New Moon (first of the month) for the month of Cheshvan.

The parashat for today begins the story of Noach or Noah, who the story tells was the only righteous man in a world consumed by violence and corruption. In keeping with the Libra Moon, despite all that was said about him, Noach went on and did as he believed God had told him, keeping to himself and going about his business….people would ask him about what he was doing, and he would say, and they would laugh, but of course as we know, the story goes that he who laughs first, as they say…

The month of Cheshvan’s planet, as well as the planet highlighting the chart for the day is Mars which sits in the sign of Virgo. Mars is the planet of physical vitality, and assertiveness.  Virgo gives that aggression an interesting focus, because Virgo makes Mars want to be helpful, and of service lending for understanding and acceptance, but Mars being the perfectionist that it is can turn the good into pettiness and with 8th house energies, Mars strives to reduce everything to what’s really necessary and has a tendency to resent Saturn’s restrictive nature, so be aware if you start to feel anxious.

The Hebrew letter associated with the planet Mars is the letter Dalet, the door. According to Walkingkabbalah.com, the letter dalet indicates resistance and the state of selflessness and humility needed to pass through the door. Dalet

The Dalet takes us to the 14th Path on the Kabbalistic tree of Life connecting Binah (understanding) with Chokmah which is wisdom, and the Empress card.  Chokmah represents reflection, meditation, intuition, and insights.  It is the mirror in which the oneness reflects itself back to us.  Binah is understanding represented by the planet Saturn and highlights the area in life where we most practice persistence and focus.  Saturn helps us in the understanding of the fixing of the soul as well as the construction of a path that will best assist us in rectification.

The Empress card is the trump of Venus, the salt of the tincture, and the great mother energy.

“Love and let love. Rejoice in every shape if love, and get thy rapture and thy nourishment thereof.”

DuQuette, Lon Milo. Understanding Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot

Crowley said the 14th path is the hallway down which the queen tiptoed to the king’s chambers; the path of the exchange of unimaginable love.

“I am Nature and God: I reign, I am, alone. None other may abide apart: they perish, Drawn into me, into my being grown. None other bosom is, to bear, to nourish, To be: the heart of all beneath my zone Of blue and gold is scarlet-bright to cherish My own’s life being, that is, and is not other; For I am God and Nature and thy Mother. 49”

Rebirth – the Third initiation on the Tree of Life

For our pathworking, the path of Dalet, we have done before, but just as with the cards, each time we undertake a path, we get a different response based on what is currently going on in our lives and our spirit.

Summary: In this pathworking, the student travels from Malkuth to

Yesod, Tiphareth, and Binah and continues on the Path of Daleth

where he sees the constellation of Cassiopeia, woman enthroned.

He enters an ancient temple and encounters the goddess Hathor.

Path Symbol: The fleur-de-lis

For any newcomers – we’ve moved into doing a guided meditation on the tree of life path associated with the energies of the day.  The guided meditation is taken from Chic Cicero’s Book Scrying on the Tree of Life with the corresponding solfeggio frequency tuning into the background.  The meditation is on the music stream.  If you don’t wish to participate in the guided meditation, that’s ok, I welcome you to sit back and listen to music I might suggest pulling up this Youtube stream with the solfeggio frequency itself.
