New Moon in Aquarius

New Moon Aquarius

Welcome to the New Moon in Aquarius which waned at 4:05 PM EST in the 8th house.  The Moon representing the female archetype and our inner nature, our dreams, loves, fears and innermost needs.  Aquarius, although called the water bearer, a glyph that appears feminine, is masculine, fixed air.  Aquarius is individualistic, inventive, original, eccentric, idealistic.  The Moon in Aquarius sits slightly outside the norm of society and waits for the rest of the world to come around to its way of thinking and being.  Aquarius is the “I know” of the zodiac primarily because Aquarius born people are students of human nature, sit and studying the hows and whys of how others act.  The 8th house gives the Aquarius Moon a swift kick of regeneration and reaffirmation with its brothers and sister planets at it’s side like a gang of zealots ringing in the new world order; and what a gang they are; the Sun, Mercury, and Venus.

At the new moon, the Sun and Moon are conjunct which is an aspect of intense unification.  The Sun represents the male archetype; our outer personality, ego, basic character.  In Aquarius, the Sun is open minded and democratic having a definite sense of mission for the good of the whole.  Mercury’s energies add a sense of intellect and sharp mental focus and perception.

Venus is included in the conjunction, but sits just outside in the sign of Pisces lending a sense of deep commitment and a strong sense of intuition.  The 8th house energies provides for a strong influence upon our values, and to question those values can be a good thing if we’re honest about out answers and take an objective look at how we arrived where we are thus far.

The square occurs when planets are at 90 degrees and is considered an aspect of tension.  The right amount of tension can invoke action but too much can cause stress.  Jupiter is the planet of good luck and expansion and highlights spiritual teaching and higher knowledge.   Jupiter here is like that nagging sensation you get when you want to sit down but that crooked picture you see out of the corner of your eye keeps bugging you to get up and fix it.  The zealots know what needs to be done, but Jupiter is the force that will get them moving, because remember, the Aquarius Moon wants the world to change around her without her having to do much about it.  In Scorpio, Jupiter is and all-in-fighter.

The sextile occurs when planets are at a 60 degree angle and is considered an aspect of benefit.  Uranus  is the planet of change and ingenuity.  It’s the rebel planet, where we strive for originality.  Uranus brings out the best in the goal of the zealots and with Aries energy, Uranus gets creative and adds some startling insights to the zealot plot to shake up the world.

Little side note- if you’ve ever studied the bible, you may know that the disciples of Jesus were called zealots and it’s often misunderstood as a religious zealot kind of thing, but if you know anything about the different levels of initiation into the so called mystery teachings, zealot is a level 2 initiation at Yesod, according to The New Hermetics of 21st century

1        initiate        Malkuth

2        zealot          Yesod

3        practitioner  Hod

4        Philospher    Netzhach

5        Adept           Tiphareth

6        adv Adept    Gevurah

7        perfect adept         Chesed

8        Master                   Binah

9        Mage            Chokmah

10      Ultimate master     Kether

-so it’s  kinda funny calling Mercury, Venus and the Sun zealots

The north node is in Leo which may be at odds with the Aquarius Moon but the node is in the first house which points to the purpose of the energies of this New Moon being our own sense of identity and who we are to the world around us; and who are we really?  Mankind has been trying to answer that question for centuries; why are we here, how did we even get here or how did we come to be.  It’s clear that the creation stories leave a great deal of information out of the details, and speaking of the details, those seem to have been purposefully altered to hide the truth of who we are.

In her writing, “Isis Unveiled,” Helene Blavatsky wrote:

“The love of truth is inherently the love of good; and so predominating over every desire of the soul, purifying it and assimilating it to the divine, thus governing every act of the individual, it raises man to a participation and communion with Divinity, and restores him to the likeness of God.”

Is that what we’re supposed to be doing?  Finding our own likeness to the divine?  Is that what all this is purposed to do?  For some, study and research and ritual, and meditation is a way of life to attempt to seek answers while some are content to believe this is it and that’s all there is, and when this life is over, it’s done and nothing beyond.

What is the likeness of God one is supposed to be restored to?  What is God, after all?  The state of our most popular spiritual systems seems little equipped to answer any of it with answers that seem rehearsed and scripted, because they will all tell you the same things, in exactly the same way, but with very little actual information of substance.  Research points to much older lifetimes where we knew the answers to all of the questions, where life had advanced well beyond what we only imagine today…had we arrived at a point where we had attained that likeness of God and had to start over from a beginning of unknowing?  What more would there have been to accomplish beyond simply living in peace?  Is that why the masters no longer have physical bodies because they no longer need to strive to learn anything?

Today in the Hebrew is the Rosh Chodesh  or New Moon of the month of Adar.  Interestingly, in history, the month of Adar marked the 9th plague, the plague of darkness, which sounds amazingly like an eclipse.  The Torah portion for today begins the instructions on constructing the ark of the covenant, which, according to Ancient Alien theorists, had to be some kind of nuclear device which emitted large amounts of radiation because of the instructions for it’s handling and what happened to the people who were negligent in its handling.   While it’s the New Moon of Aquarius (as the Moon sits in the sign of Aquarius at the time of the first crescent- the technical new moon) the month of Adar is connected to the sign of Pisces, the fish.  The month of Adar was the last month before the story of the Exodus.  This coming month also includes the Chinese New Year which begins Friday and is the Year of the Dog. Adar is also the month of Purim which commemorates the defeat of a plot of massacre.

The Hebrew letter for this New Moon is the letter Gimel which means the giving of reward, as well as the giving of punishment.  The month of Adar is central column energy also receiving from the pillar of severity, and the pillar of mercy – a life in balance, and rectification of the soul said to merit God’s light. In Kabbalah, reward and punishment infer man’s freedom of choice between good and so called evil.  Perfect example of those debates over truth, in an article at on the letter Gimel, is written:

“According to the Rambam, the World to Come, the time of reward, is a completely spiritual world, one of souls without bodies. On this point the Ramban (Nachmanides) disagrees and argues that since complete freedom of choice exists only in our physical world, the ultimate rectification of reality the reward of the World to Come will also be on the physical plane.”

Personally I think it’s both, as some things we reap what’s been sown in the here and now, in this lifetime, and I think others carry on forward as well.  I remember thinking at some point what I must have done in a previous life to warrant some things in this, but I’ve also come to think that some things we tend to see as payment or punishment, are actually things that we purposely set for ourselves because of what we needed to learn from them.

gimelThe letter Gimel represents the 13th path on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life connecting Kether (the crown) with Tiphareth (beauty) and includes the unseen spheroth of Daath (knowledge), and is central column energy connecting both the right and left columns, as well as, the upper triad with the center of the tree, the upper archetypical with the formative worlds.  The sphere of Kether symbolizes the will of God-the will for oneness.  The sphere of Tiphareth is related to the Sun in your chart and is connected to our higher selves.

The letter Gimel and the 13th Path are represented by the high priestess in the Thoth Tarot, the perfect Aquarian trump in all her glory.

priestess“Purity is to live only to the Highest; and the Highest is All be thou as Artemis to Pan!”  DuQuette, Lon Milo. Understanding Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot (p. 102). Red Wheel Weiser. Kindle Edition.

Crowley stated that the Priestess represents the moon in her higher aspect – the aspect that joins the human to the divine.

Chic & Tabitha Cicero write of the 13th Path, the following:

“The Thirteenth Path is named the Uniting Intelligence, and is so called because it is itself the Essence of Glory. It is the Consummation of the Truth of individual spiritual things. This path is a direct pipeline that unites the Higher Self (Tiphareth) to the Divine Self (Kether). It is the direct route of the soul. The Thirteenth Path, more than any other, is the path that connects the lesser universe of man to the greater universe of the godhead—the god-spark within to the source beyond. And because it is a clear, straight path between the major spheres of the head and the heart, it is the “Essence of Glory,” which bestows a particular level of clarity and truth.

The Hebrew letter Gimel means “camel,” an animal known for its stamina and ability to store water for long trips across the desert. The Path of Gimel is the longest path on the Tree, and thus, the symbol of the camel is appropriate. This path is sometimes said to be the only practical path that the student can use to reach Kether, since the paths of Beth and Aleph are primarily paths of energy descent. The Thirteenth Path, like the Twenty-fifth Path, can be a path of trial. The student who travels unswervingly along this longest of paths toward the ultimate goal of Kether can sometimes experience sensations of futility, isolation, and loneliness in the long stretches when the goal seems to be nowhere in sight.

The Path of Gimel represents the purest root-essence of consciousness, often symbolized by water. The “Uniting Intelligence” knows and sees all. It is pure mental energy operating at the unconscious level. Its essence saturates all things in the universe, yet it remains unchanged by anything it touches. The Thirteenth Path is the primary regulator of the divine life-force as it flows down the Tree in vibratory “waves” of energy, which become ever more dense.

In traveling this path, the student attempts to unite the human part of the self to the divine part. Here the student also learns about the processes of memory (subconscious recall) and reflection (man as the counterpart of the divine). Although this path may be a long ordeal, when it is finally accomplished, the ultimate initiation takes place.”
