New Moon in Pisces

New Moon Pisces

Welcome to the New Moon in Pisces which waned at 11:04 AM EST.  The Moon, representing the female archetype, the inner emotional portion of our personalities including our dreams, desires, and how we process our environment internally, in the sign of Pisces.  Pisces is feminine mutable water.  It is the “I believe,” of the zodiac ruled by Neptune, the ancient god of illusion, glamour, and mystery.  Mutable signs are communicators, and water signs are all about emotion and instinct, thereby making Pisces able to express itself. The Moon in Pisces views the universe as sacred and takes the spiritual world seriously; intuition becomes a matter of course lending sensitivity and kindness in its’ energy.  With 10th house energies, our public image comes into focus, how we are perceived by others, which reminds me of the concept of giving not even the appearance of evil.

Aspecting this New Moon includes the conjunction with the Sun,  and Neptune, the sextile with Mars, and Saturn, and the square with Jupiter.

The conjunction occurs when planets are on the same degree within the sign.  It is an aspect of intense unification; the Three Musketeer effect.  The Sun represents the male archetype, our outer identity, and conscious personality. The Sun in Pisces is longsuffering providing the encouragement to bear whatever we are going through with the sense that a season is not forever.  The Sun in Pisces can help the Moon compartmentalize strong emotions, and provides internal strength, and independence.  Also sharing the conjunction is the planet Neptune, the planet of spirituality, imagination, and illusion.  Neptune is at home in Pisces and solidifies the flow of intuitions, and spiritual wisdom.  10th house energies here help us to manifest ideal and dreams with clear vision.

The sextile occurs when planets are at 60 degrees from each other and is considered a positive aspect.  Mars, is the planet of physical vitality, and assertiveness.  In Taurus, this physical strength gets coupled with Taurus’ drive for security and stability, so Taurus provides Mars with incredible stamina and determination. With 12th house energies, Mars encourages and motivates the personal sacrifice of the Pisces Moon – learning to let things go for our higher good.  Having a strong Capricorn influence in my chart, I generally lean heavily on the side of justice, and often find it difficult to let go of things that I see as injustice.  The energies of this New Moon give us the strength to kiss those injustices and perceived wrongs to the universe, and to let them go ourselves – we have to be our own personal warriors, and let others learn to be their own so they can grow.

Saturn is the planet of limitations, and responsibilities, and Capricorn is Saturn’s home base providing the strength of its’ influence, and gives this Pisces New Moon the structure it needs to prioritize its’ actions.

The square occurs when planets are at 90 degrees apart and is considered an aspect of tension which promotes stress to stimulate action.  Jupiter is the planet of good luck and expansion, while the sign it sits in, Sagittarius, is the sign of good fortune and optimism.  This is the energy that will help you to move when you’re undecided or hesitant because of uncertainty, because doing nothing has gotten you nowhere. With 7th house energies, Jupiter focuses upon the effect of the Moon on our interpersonal relationships, and helps us see the bigger picture.

Today in the Hebrew is the Rosh Chodesh or New Moon for the month of Adar II.  It is tradition, when the month of February has 30 days, a second month of Adar is added to make sure the lunar months stay in sync with the solar calendar.  A second month of Adar occurs approximately every 3 years.  The month of Adar denotes strength and power, and is said by the Sages, to be a month of miracles, however according to the calendar itself, this New Moon commemorates the 9th plague, that of darkness. While it was considered the lesser of the plagues, there being no real harm, physically, the absence of light was symbolic.  The sages of chabad.org provide:

The absence of light merely denies people the ability to see their surroundings, making it impossible to discern objects or people in their vicinity.”

Without spiritual insight, where would we go?  When I think back over the course of my life, of the number of times my intuition “miraculously” saved me from harm, I imagine without that sense, I would have died or been killed many times over, or broke and homeless, or sick working myself into the ground.  I can promise each of you, whether you acknowledge it or not, have had similar instances in your life, and again I go back to the testimonials of the people that were “miraculously” saved on 911 where their intuition just said – hey do this instead, and they heard and heeded that sense.

The Hebrew letter that created the month of Adar is the letter Kof.  The letter kof is said by Kabbalah to be a letter of sanctity because it actualizes potential.  “Potential,” in the meaning of this New Moon, could be expressly different than what was meant for the prior Full Moon.

khaf

For this New Moon, we’re focusing on the Pisces’ sense of belief where potential is either realized, and actualized, or not. Because it is our “belief” that helps to determine what we create for ourselves.  The Hebrew word for Pisces is “dagim,”  dalet-gimel which equals luck.  Some say there is no such thing as “luck,” and that life is what we make of it, and here, “luck,” or the lack thereof, is really due to what we believe, because what we believe (below) is what we create (above) and what we create (above) is what we have (below).

So, as we repeat the month of Adar, we also repeat the guided meditation, the trials of Percephal and his quest for the grail, because the lesson that is contained therein must be repeated and driven home in order to get it through some of our thicker heads…we are what we think we are because that is what we are creating ourselves to be.  If we can just maintain and focus our thoughts upon what’s positive only, we will manifest the good that we desire.  We have to stop that negative nelly that sits on our shoulder, once and for all.

The letter kof takes us to the 21st Path on the Kabbalistic Tree of life connecting the sephiroth of Chesed (4- mercy – blue ) with Netzhach (7-victory green) located on the pillar of mercy which is right column energy, the masculine pillar of activity, force, and expansion.

Luminanti.com says:

The path of Mercy is what Gray calls the Orphic Path. This is the path followed by those who cannot be bound by tradition and convention. It is the path of the free spirit individualist. “It is the path of emotion and pure ungarded feeling”

The sephira of Chesed is said to embody the archetype of compassion and unconditional love, and is associated with Jupiter in our charts.  It is said, “if you gave to the Universe what understanding asks of you, in Mercy you will receive or reap the rewards of that discipline and effort.

The sephira of Netzhach brings pleasure and governs the mechanism of repetition and reproduction, finding that niche that’s good, and doing it over and over again.  It is connected to the planet Venus in your chart and underlines the area in your life where you can use your idiosyncratic talents to generate abundance.

The letter kof takes us to the Wheel of Fortune or the “Fortune” card in the Thoth Tarot.

Wheel of fortune

“Follow thy Fortune, care less where it lead thee!”

So, for example, we use our thoughts to create our reality, but we sometimes have to overcome negative thought patterns and doubt so that we forge those positive thoughts into the ethereal where manifestation begins. However, you can’t act like it’s something you need, because that infers that it doesn’t already exist.  In the creation process, because in reality, we’re learning here, to be the gods that we already are, and have always been, often unwittingly creating around us things we never really wanted because we lacked the knowledge of how the process really works. But with knowledge comes great responsibility, and we become held to a higher standard – like the coming of age of a child from innocence to knowing, or like the parable of Adam and Eve eating of the tree and becoming aware of themselves, and the Gods of the bible saying man has become like us.

“And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. ***

Now, lest [the man] reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—”

What’s the saying…”Ignorance of the law is no excuse?”  Now that’s a secular phrase, but it’s relative because whether we use our power properly or not, it’s still operating like all those processes operating in the background of your computer that you don’t always know about.

The Fortune card is about things changing – now they can change for the better or the worse, but change is coming.

Chic Cicero writes of the 28th  path:

In his book “Scrying the Tree of Life,” Chic Cicero writes:

This is a path that requires great exertion and true dedication to

the spiritual quest. It is the road of aspiration that can only be

tackled by dedicated students. The Yetziratic text implies that

this path is something that is requested and sought after. The

“conciliation” implies a new understanding or union between

the higher and lower parts of the personality—they are no

longer fighting each other or reaching for separate goals.
