Welcome to the New Moon in Taurus which waned at 2:15 am EST, and this was also an annular eclipse, which were you in a place where you could view, was a ring of fire. The moon, our sense of perception and feeling as a product of our identification, our strive to find our emotional security and the receptor of the sun’s energies which make up our outer identity. The moon represents the rhythm of our daily life… the entire planet responds to her mood swings in their own way.
Taurus is fixed earth which makes Taurus enduring, patient and practical while being strong, stubborn, bull headed as it were, slightly materialistic and seems to have maybe a bit of a block against spirituality which is the perfect description of my mother… Coincidentally, this moon sits in the 4th house, the house of our roots, the mother as she receives the new soul, our family and the circumstances surrounding conception, our early childhood and the development of our subconscious mind. so the question becomes, is there something from our beginning that needs to be dealt with before we can move forward.
So we look to the other aspects to see if we can get a bigger picture of the energies of this moon. First we have the conjunction to the sun which is also in Taurus. At the new moon, the sun is always conjunct the moon, they sit together unified, so our sense of self, how the world sees us, how we develop our true abilities and possibilities, our inner energy source sits with the moon in determined Taurus… so if the Moon here wants to investigate those hidden feelings from our childhood, the sun is all for going there and gives us the strength to get through it, even if those things remind us of hurt.. today we stand strong enough to face what’s there, the sun giving us the strength of Taurus.
Conjunction with mercury. which represents our connection to the people around us, our communication skills and everything related to neuronal connections in the brain, thinking being possible, verbal connections which makes speaking possible, our exchange of thoughts.. a strong Mercury in your chart may give you great speaking abilities… when you talk, people around you listen because you have an uncanny ability to make people want to hear whatever it is you have to say. There is an attorney that does social security in my area and he advertises a bit on television..and every time i see his commercial I think, that man could read the phone book to me and it would be amazing… maybe not for the same reason, but like that. Taurus likes to proceed on a step by step basis so Mercury sitting in Taurus gives us the ability to see situations on their different facets… maybe in the past you suffered an incredible loss… Mercury hands you the ability to be able to see all facets of those circumstances where you get a sense of how those things affected you so you can turn it and make it positive, like a mother that was horrible at being a parent but maybe because of that, you were raised by an incredible loving grandmother and in doing so, you yourself were able to break the cycle of dysfunction in yourself and be a better parent to your children.
Neptune is a complex planet and so are it’s energies in our charts. Neptune represents our imagination and dreams, our sense of creativity
Every ideal begins with a mental/psychic image which, after emerging in a vague form from our subconscious, then takes on a more definite form, and thereby becomes an idea; the idea becomes more structured and is raised to the level of “what should be”, thereby becoming an ideal. Neptune represents the initial psychic image, the idea in its earliest stages, still nebulous and unformed, or, to put it simply: Neptune is the stuff out of which dreams are made. In Pisces, Neptune is sensitive and particularly dreamy, perceiving the energies behind appearances and has no sense of fear.
The trine is a positive harmonious aspect and here Pluto is trine this Taurus moon, sitting in Capricorn in the first house. Pluto is our sense of transformation and change, forcing us sometimes to get rid of that which is no longer necessary in our lives and sometimes that includes people. Pluto represents the principle of the essential… Capricorn is our sense of responsibility which may be changing… there may be a need to alter that sense of what is our duty… how far do you take that committment if it is now causing you great pain. Taurus may be stubborn, but it’s practically inclined and with the sun sitting in harmony with the Moon, what makes practical sense to you may over ride your martyred sense of duty. We cannot grow if we hold onto things which hold us back, period… Like the movie the money pit… the house is gonna be great and then little by little it falls apart… I love my house and I love living by myself, but I’m seeing that it may be time for me to let go of that stern sense of independence I get from my mother and let go of the material in favor of being in a better situation for myself.
So this new moon is personal for me, especially with the 4th house moon reminding me of those strong qualities I got from my mother that served my survival well up to this point, but it may be time to let some of that go and concede that the future of the world isn’t entirely MY responsibility.
Today according to the revised Hebrew calendar which added extra days to keep the holiday of passover in line with the christian easter, is now off.. what is supposed to be (see this is one of those details that bother me) the first of the month, the new moon, is now expected to trail behind in the old energies and it simply doesn’t work. It’s like expecting you to mimic your older siblings’ abilities even though your talents may be extraordinary in other areas, so technically, we’re in the month of Iyar and not Nissan… hence another argument with the rabbis who seem to only be able to give a parental explanation for the practice, you know… do this because we say so and I’ve never been able to just accept that.
So we move onto Iyar which is taurus and the sun already being in Taurus, we have the fullness of Iyar at hand.
The spring is the season that is imbued with the most powerful spiritual forces. The element of fire in Astrology and also according to Kabbalah represents power, creativity, energy and also ego. More than anything else the fire signs represent the desire to receive; this is because when the fire stops consuming it stops existing.
Since the sign of Taurus is left column, it therefore has the strongest ability to draw Light, more than the other spring months. We see the confirmation of this reflected in the Hebrew words/names connected to the month of Iyar (Taurus).
The name Iyar comes from the word light in Hebrew… and in Hebrew the name of the planet that rules Taurus is Noga, a word which also means light for Venus.
The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches that the light for the whole year is generated in the spring.. this is the connection to Taurus which has the ability to draw light which makes Taurus tend to live under the impression that everything is great.. .but belief makes a huge difference, so to Taureans… everything IS great. Taurus creates the world to reflect the desire for stability and consistency.
The symbol for Taurus is the Ox, the Shor… it represents the left face of the divine chariot representing the spiritual origin of the animal soul of man, which the 4th house represents. The month of Iyar is the letter vav which is the Hierophant in the thoth Tarot.. but as we are on the 4th moon festival seeking that divine connection, we’re in the 4th letter of the Tetragrammaton, the letter Hei… and the letter Hei is the Star.
As we said earlier, the moon is also under a solar eclipse, as was the new moon in Taurus last year. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon’s apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun’s, blocking most of the Sun’s light and causing the Sun to look like an annulus (ring). The effects of the eclipse can linger for six months or more. Eclipses come in pairs (or trios), and in two weeks, there’s a lunar eclipse to set in the changes. You may feel that something big is about to happen weeks before the date of the pair (or trio) of eclipses. Our most intimate cosmic bodies — Sun, Moon and Earth — are in synch, clicking into place for a new beginning, which is traditional for a new Moon.
The name of the letter hei appears in the verse, “Take [hei] for yourselves seed.” “Take” (hei) expresses revelation of self in the act of giving of oneself to another. But as we grow up, we understand that before we can give ourself to another, we need to know first, who we are… the Hei is thought expression speech and action as we discussed the last time we visited the letter hei, the soul’s three means of expression as represented by the strokes that create the letter Hei… the upper horizontal line to thought; the right vertical line to speech; the unattached foot to action, the foundation of our creative expression…. we think, we articulate those thoughts, and we do.
The Star is the trump of hope and trust, for the sensitive understanding of cosmic coherence, the intuition that everything is in balance and harmony. The Star is also called the ‘Guiding Light’, and is taken as a symbol of the deep realization that the chosen way is the right one, that the end of this way will be a good one, and that there is perfect harmony between the psychical feeling and the physical doing..
The day is under the watchful eye of the Prince of Disks.

Mystic mamma wrote The Solar Eclipse | New Moon in Taurus brings us an opportunity to settle in and ground the energies that have been unearthed during this recent portal of transformation.
I found that particularly interesting because the photos that you see of the ring of fire remind me of a stargate – a stargate which allows you to transport from one place or one space in time to another… perhaps the energies of this New Moon give us the opportunity to take a step back in time, taking a look at the circumstances of our upbringing or our birth even that could shed light on who we are today and help us to get in back into touch with who we came to this earth to be.
musical note C is DO which is the 396 hz on the solfeggio scale… enjoy a meditation on the solfeggio frequencies.
